If you are needing something QUICK, but extremely delicious at the same time, bark is the treat to make. I guess this shouldn't really be considered a recipe because all it is is melting chocolate and caramel... but I think it's worth a post anyways! Jordan and I made this almond chocolate bark yesterday and can't seem to stop eating it.. The almonds add a perfect crunch. Enjoy!
1 bag dark chocolate chips (we like to use the ghirardelli brand)
1 bag milk chocolate chips
Sea salt
1 bag Kraft caramels
2 tablespoons water
Slivered almonds
Directions
Line a sheet pan with wax paper. Hint: to help wax paper stick, wipe the pan with a sponge first that way the wax paper doesn't move when you spread the chocolate.
Put caramels in a bowl with two tablespoons of water and microwave for 2 minutes. Stir. If they need more time to melt, only continue for 30 second intervals.
Combine both bags of chocolate chips and melt using a double boiler (if you have one). If you don't have a double boiler just put the chocolate chips in a pot and turn the heat on low and continuously stir until it is all melted!
Once the chocolate is melted, pour it on the sheet pan and spread it out to the edges. Then, spoon dollops of caramel over the chocolate. Combine the chocolate and caramel by swirling it around. Generously sprinkle with sea salt, and then cover with almonds. Gently press the almonds into the chocolate so they all don't fall off once it is hard.
Put in the freezer for 20 minutes. Cut into pieces. Enjoy!!
